Designer, decorator, style maven, trendsetter and artist Janus Lazaris has always been passionate about great design. Since starting remodeling homes over 25 years ago, Janus has brought an artist’s eye to countless local, national and international commercial and residential projects ranging from interior design, makeovers, and remodeling, to exterior garden and pool design. (She loves meeting design challenges so much that she has been known to fall asleep dreaming about new design possibilities!)

Equally important, Janus understands completely the challenges of reinvigorating a business space or creating a beautiful home where real families can live, while meeting the need to stay within a budget. Her background in marketing makes her extremely effective at assisting small and mid-size business clients with design challenges related to office efficiency and business image. Her unique design philosophy of “respecting the past” while “embracing the future” enables Janus to offer each commercial and residential client cutting edge expertise combined with the “personal touch” that sets Janus Design apart.

Janus earned her bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Houston with a minor in Interior Design. Her extensive studies have included Interior Design, Garden Design, Home Construction, Lighting and Stage Design at U of H, Houston Community College, and Rice University. As an artist, Janus has painted for years, often creating original artwork for clients. She is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers, Interior Decorators of Texas, Interior Designers Protection Council, The Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and a founding member of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Janus has not only completed jobs throughout Texas, West Virginia, Louisiana and Illinois but is also currently working on a project in Europe. In the endless pursuit of style, inspiration and design resources, Janus has traveled to Athens, Barcelona, Paris, Venice, Florence, Rome, and Toronto. She has made numerous trips throughout the US, and is a frequent visitor to The Dallas Market.

Janus Design regularly donates a percentage of all fees to Habitat for Humanity. A strong believer in "giving back" to the community, Janus is an active volunteer for them, as well as for the Furniture Bank of Houston and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Through her monthly newsletter, she supports Houston’s artists and the local arts community, as well as sharing design tips and trends with commercial and residential clients old and new. Along with her passions for great design, travel and community Janus enjoys spending quality time with her 2 grown sons, sailing and ballroom dancing with her husband of over 25 years.
